Why do you need a driver- can't you simply set up a generic infrared
modem connection? I'm not a Palm guy- I'm writing this on a Pocket
PC, but with PPCs you just set up a dial-up connection using the
Generic IR Modem settings and off you go.

Besides, wouldn't a driver be the responsibility of the phone
manufacturer? If I buy a peripheral that connects to my home PC, it
comes with the drivers (if needed)- I don't ask my PC manufacturer for
them.

If you can manually setup the connection without any trouble, then no
special drivers should be necessary.

As a Palm stockholder, let me tell you they need to do a lot of "wakey
wakey" on more important matters before worrying about a few lousy
phone drivers! ;-)

I don't doubt it, but myriads of other Nokias communicate effortlessly
with Palm devices. If Nokia has done something different with these
models, I don't think that's PalmOne's fault.

A few years ago I had a Nokia 7160 that simply wouldn't connect to the
newer (at that time) Pocket PCs (but connected to older Pocket PCs
just fine!)

After screwing around with different settings and registry settings
for weeks and spending countless hours on the phone with both Nokia
and Microsoft, I threw in the towel and changed phones.

That Nokia 7160 was also stubborn about conecting to Palms as well.
Somebody wrote a script for Palms to connect to that phone (I remember
it because I tried using the concept on my PPC to no avail)- maybe a
Google search might turn it up and it may be adaptable to your current
problem.

Works fine with my (shelved) 3650, and also with the 6310i (a hardy
workhorse :-))

PalmOne claim there is not enough "interest", but they "may" release the
driver soon.

I HAVE tried with other phone settings, but no joy.

(s'pose I could of course keep my 6310i to hand, purely for Palm
connectivity use, but "Nahhhh. I don't wanna do that!".

No way, at least in the European server because they ask for your name and
your phone's data.
Once they know you from the 1st time they will know it is flooding.
I mailed them 3 times, they answer was the same...not enough demands, etc.
After then my mails were unanswered.
