Hello, I had the same problem when I switched from another carrier to
T-Mobile and brought my number with me. It was confirmed by Tech support
that that was the problem (number portability) and it took about a week
to get it working. Supposedly the high-level tech guys are very backed-
up. It was a little frustrating, but they would send me text messages to
my phone telling me they were working on it. Call them up (611 from your
mobile phone, it's a free call) and explain what's going on. Hope this
