Default Polyphonic ringtones?

I was under the impression that polyphonic tones were digital music samples
( like .wav files)
And therefore , was looking forward to getting my new phone and installing
my favourite track as my ring tone, well part of it anyway.
Now I've just been looking through nokia forums and all the phones I'm
interested in are polyphonic for the above reason, but everyone is talking
about midi files for ringtones.!
Do any nokias support .wav's..?

Cheers

Steve

Polyphonic ringtones are midi files, so you won't be able to upload your
favourite wave file unfortunately.

Have a search around the Internet and you'll probably find the midi version
of your favourite song anyway.

Hi !!!

I'm quite sure the phone converts the .wav to midi. A
vaw tune takes too much memory ...

cheers,

I'm quite sure you fell asleep somewhere. you Can't convert WAV to MIDI, and
why does a WAV file take too much memory? a WAV file like any other can be
any size you want it to be. the several Wav files my 3650 start at around
13KB - not a lot even for a series 40!

I'm getting the 6610 now
nice and cheap.

Decided against spending £150 for a phone that will spend most of its time
on a building site
