Hi
I got this A6188 Motorola 4 days only and now it wont work. Firstly The data cable transfers to the pc where very PAINFUL via the serial cable due to it only working twice out of 20 attempts. There was no other program using the port I had to give that up and moved to infrared transfers(1st had to buy the usb-IRDA !) That kinda worked better, but slower. After a few attempts, trying out all my OS's(win98SE,W2k,winXP)(multiboot pc) the phone froze the up down buttons on the face of the phone. The pen still worked, and the other two buttons on either side.A off on sorted that out. I was synchronizing again, when all of a sudden I happened to look at the phone and saw that horizontal black lines were appearing. Then the screen went blank. And that was the end of the phone. I went and bought a new A008 to replace this older model. In South Africa, the A008 has only just been discontinued, so the last remaining stock was dirt cheap. I want to keep the older phone for spares now,as I understand the boards are the same. The phones does switch on,Iand if I push the buttons quickly within 5 seconds ,they all make beeps. The backlight comes on.Occassionally three clicks come from the phone on startup. My thinking goes that the serial port cable and power supply somehow damaged the phone.? Since the backlight comes on the screen is still OK? Can I assume that since the phone at least comes on the damage is not too serious? I suppose it will be a little ic (I got the toolset and opend up the phone, microscopic is more accurate) Recomndations:dump, get it checked out by a pro, keep for spares in the hope something is still useable, get it fixed and sell it fast. Thanx all XSEL |
