But in the few stand-alone sites I've seen, I think the air-conditioning might be the largest power load. John |

Great, thanks for the answers.
But Mark, what is a Public Safety site? I tyically design in a 200amp panel and have 100 amp service installed by the phone company. Someone else mentioned that the heaviest load is probably the air conditioners - true. MTSO's typically need more electricity! -- John S. e-mail responses to - john at kiana dot net |

A recent visit to Tucson, AZ and the cellular company that I was doing the work for there had outside cabinets without air! And no I won't mention the company. -- John S. e-mail responses to - john at kiana dot net |

A Public Safety radio site are tower site(s) that are utilized for
police and fire communications. Their construction is very similar to cellular that they utilize the same calculations for HVAC, power consumption, etc. The only real difference is usually the height of the transmitting antennas with cellular around the 100 to 250' and public safety systems are from 300 to 500 typically, but this has very little bearing on the AC power consumption.-- Mark Ross <ross@rvdstudio.com> wrote in article <BB8C804F.18A55%ross@rvdstudio.com>: > Great, thanks for the answers. > But Mark, what is a Public Safety site? > > Ross > > > From: askme@askme.com (Mark F) > > Organization: Posted via Supernews, http://www.supernews.com > > Newsgroups: alt.cellular-phone-tech > > Date: Mon, 15 Sep 2003 21:24:38 -0000 > > Subject: Re: Cell tower > > > > Ross <ross@rvdstudio.com> wrote in article > > <BB8B8301.18A0E%ross@rvdstudio.com>: > >> Does anyone have an idea how much electricity the equipment > >> at a typical cell tower uses?
