If you're sure an 0845 callthrough isn't possible ?
Sign up for a Calling Card like Tiscali, Quip, Onetel, etc.

I use Tiscali
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/services/sm...ime_extra.html

USA 3p per min anytime dialing from a 0800 number

You can pay Tiscali prepay by credit card or postpay by Direct Debit
I would recommend postpay by DD

If you join Tiscali ?
Please give them my number for their "recommend a friend" 5 quid bonus

Tiscali account number US6CB4G440
Sign up code MGM01

I would call registrations on 0800 954 2223 rather than sign up online
Once you've joined them, email me for a current 0800 access number

You can also use Tiscali from an Orange phone on a Talkplan that incs 0800

Thanks
Steve Terry

Steve... thanks! you have the deal i want. also, the website doesn't give
the rate for calling a USA mobile (only gives for USA landline). or is this
the same rate?

also, do i have to sign up using my home BT number? I don't really wanna do
this as i live with 3 other house mates and don't want them using my
telediscount service.

cheers
Andy

Ohh.. Don't think Tiscali have Pin protection ?

In which case sign up for Quip who do, your prefs including Pin
can be all set up online, with same prepay by DD option like Tiscali

If you join Quip ?
Please give my recommend a friend number 1185564277
so I get a bonus
www.quip.co.uk
Call registrations on 0808 152 2000

email me for Quip access numbers

Steve

It should be - the way the numbers are allocated in USA, it isn't easy to
spot a cellphone number from any other numbers within an area code (though
in some instances the 'def' digits [of (abc) def ghij ] may alert locals to
some numbers being for cellphones...

>do i have to sign up using my home BT number? ... don't want them using

various services offer access from another landline - they usually use 10
digits for an account number (often the last 10 digits of a BT line number)
and then a 4-digit PIN. That allows access from payphones and most other
landlines, and the PIN means that your housemates won't be able to access
the service at your expense.

When opening the account, you'll perhaps have to explain your situation,
so the landlord's number doesn't get automatic access (usually provided
to simplify dialling via services so the 0800 + 14 digits + destination
number can be shortened to a 4-digit prefix and the destination number.

Certainly that's easier to store for redialling numbers than some long
sequence (and in your case you'll have to memorize it - or store it on
something you can take out of the house with you - an Easicom 200 will
probably store it, but they're rather old now). Good luck! Peter.
