Is anyone using the Wave Linker Bluetooth dongle with Sony Ericsson
T610?. I can send files to the PC but can't re-sync using the supplied
software. SE Customer Support says I can't use this to sync since it
doesn't support serial link profile.
Anyone else had this experience?.

Ive used the same setup as you, along with another bluetooth dongle from
BlueTake. Neither will work with the Software that came with the phone over
bluetooth...

I doubt you will get it to work im afraid, though i will post if i solve it
ever.

I'll return this one and get a Belkin dongle as this is known to work
(about £25 from www.ebuyer.com) .

Not directly, but the wavelinker does indeed support bluetooth serial port
service. i've used it so sync, remote control and install applications to a
P800 over BT using the wavelinker.

I dont think i read your original message properly after a bad day and my
reply wasnt ideal. I will clarify and i think think webmaster is more right
than me

The wavelinker should support serial, im sure mine does but its loaned to a
mate at the moment so i cant confirm, but as serial cable replacement is the
basic task of bluetooth then i would be amazed if it wasnt supported by it.

What i was meaning (though not saying) is that the xtend connect probably
wont work - i think it worked once for me but i cant be sure and i
definately cant get it to work now... I suspect there is a way to sync with
the phone but i dont know it.

SE Customer Support says it won't work with the T610 supplied
software. They have tried out the dongle after a number of customer
complaints. May be it will work with a different combination.
BTW, I think, the Wave Linker software messed up my PCI interface on
my PC (PIII running Win XP Pro).

www.my-symbian.com and search for Remote P800. It displays your P800 screen
on teh PC and you use your mouse and keyboard to remote control it,
excellent for sending SMS from the PC especially linked with bluetooth.

Also you can get someone to carry your phone around on camera mode and take
pictures on it using the PC.

Indeed, the wavelinker software was rubbish, after getting the stuff from
that FTP link I posted a few days ago it works a treat.

The combination of the Sony and Wavelinker software does seem to be very
poor. After much searching, I found some useful information on
www.esato.com deinstalled the Wavelinker drivers and installed MSI drivers
instead. It's not pretty and not to be recommended, but it was either that
or buy a new dongle. Usual disclaimers apply...

I can't vouch for its reliability (only managed to get it going on Friday),
but I've now had one successful sync with Outlook - which is one more than I
had with the Wavelinker s/w.
