Default Back Door Upgrade???

I'm wanted to upgrade my handset a Nokia 7110e , keep my number and
stay with Orange.....

Orange wanted £85 for the new handset. I've been with them 5 years, I
threatened to leave but they wouldn't budge on the price. So I'm
looking at doing the following upgrade. My only worry is that they
would pick it up as a back door upgrade and prevent me porting my
number from the PAYG Sim to the new phone.

1. Get a Siemens S55 on an Orange Contract ( Free Handset , £25/month
)
2. Port my old Orange Contract Number over to a Voda PAYG Sim (£10?)
3. Port the PAYG number over to the new S55 contract phone.
4. Switch the Orange HSData Service after 4 months (£10/month?)

Would this work???

Serve them notice on the contract - they may just come up with a
special deal for you. Don't threaten - act.

Possible after 1 month if purchased from an Orange direct, but
correct if it's from an independent dealer.

What's the price of a handset with a new contract?
'preciate you want to keep your new number, but O charged me 30GBP to
upgrade to my SPV, when a new customer got it for free.
I've been with them 10 years and went as far as ordering a cancellation and
changing to P&G.
They even sent me new P&G SIM's for our old handsets.
Would not budge an inch.

O's 'Outbound' team tried several times to get in touch with me admittedly,
but not quite hard enough.
3 calls in 4 weeks..No messages left, and hung up when they were diverted to
my work number.
I eventually buckled and paid the fee, I was so keen on keeping the numbers.
I was told by a nice young lady at O's CS that the Outbound team would more
than likely want to strike a deal.
I would definately call their bluff, and set the ball rolling for a
cancellation.

Maybe someone could give you some e-mail addresses to write to?
I went down this route once before with some success.

Mick.

If you get a grumpy orange tubby they may refuse this as the S55 does not
support high speed data for some bizzare reason .

If you can find Vodafone SIMs for £10 let me know. Virgin will be the
cheapest at £10.

Yes it would, but it's a lot of faffing around for the sake of saving about
£60. You moan about Orange not budging on the price yet you are planning to
downgrade to teh lowest possible tariff? No wonder.

but they don't know this. It's not like I told them I planned to move
from a 25/month tariff to 10/month, noww why would I do that?
