Shifts to other packages are *free* surely...or were when I looked!!!

Their 22.99/month@1Mb (with 5Gb) would be the one I would consider moving to.

They are however slightly cheaper per month (ok granted not that much in it)
Personally I would very much recommend plusnet, their range of services such
as webhosting, email etc is excellent and customer support superior.

I do know people that have had issues with wanadoo, and I know plusnet are
better - thats not to say that wanadoo wouldn't be ok, I just know who i'd
choose.

I think its worth it and I would go with plusnet.

It depends entierely on your circumstances. I would go with a PCI for a
desktop pc as PCI is generally faster than usb (and less likley to cause
problems from overloaded usb)

Go for a router if you have a home network, or think you may want a home
network in the future. Also a router will have slightly better security
because the router has the external ip address not your pc, some also have
built in firewall.

Must dig out old mail! When they brought out the new packages (and discontinued
umlimited use for new users) I am sure that they offered a one-way transition
to any of their new packages for free.

In my experience Plusnet is preferable to Wanadoo (Freeserve) and a Router
is superior to a usb modem as I have used both. HTH

OP question was of the kind
Which car would you rather have ? Rolls or Ford
The answer to which is "you pay your money and take your choice" either
one will do the job . I prefer PlusNet even though I cant afford a RR.

I would still recommend Wanadoo for new users coming off dial-up as the
£17.99/month with no startup fees or hardware to buy gives them so much more
for about the same price. Several such limited users I know are extremely happy
with what they get for the price!

But as soon as BT cock up and mess up the routing (as they have done
twice to me) you have to get the ISP to chase them.

THEN it matters...

£12 a year more than PlusNet, capped at a level that wouldn't be enough
for me and I don't expect that I could take advantage of the 1MB upgrade,
according to BT's assessment of my line at http://www.bt.com/broadband

Oh, and according to those who've recently made the same shift, it *does*
cost £20, I'm afraid.

I am, however, sure that you are right to say light users will be happy
with the service (assuming nothing goes wrong). Wanadoo just don't offer
anything that "fits" me anymore.

Dave.

It's actually 6Gb/month included with Wanadoo I see - which makes them £9/year
CHEAPER than PlusNet for this product!
