Default anybody know how long it takes BT to remove a DACS?

Hi all, I applied for broadband with Madasafish on the 10th of
Feb, and today (the 19th), they've emailed me saying that they
expect my service to be available by the 22nd Feb. My modem is
still connecting at 28.8k though so assume the DACS is still in
place. Does anybody know if I can assume it'll have been removed
by Tuesday, or how long I can expect to wait?

thanks, Alex.

It will depend a lot on what has to be done to free up a a spare pair, it
could be on time but don't hold your breath...

Hi Alex,

Unfortunately there's no set time, it varies from DACS to DACS and will
depend on the availability of a spare copper pair, a BT engineer, yourself
if the DACS is inside your property, and depending on where the DACS unit
is maybe a cherry picker.
Tuesday is possible because usually once the DACS is gone they can do the
rest of the work to activate the ADSL the same day.

With Regards,

Dave,

Do you know there's a spare pair to the exchange to enable you to
be unDACSed? Did Madasafish check this with BT before they
promised you service?

When i moved in here and they connected the phone line I
complained about the poor modem speed, and they sent an engineer
out who then confirmed I was on a DACS and that there was no
spare lines to switch the DACS to. Since then though, the guy in
the flat below has had a phone line put in which included putting
in a new wire to the telegraph pole etc, so I imagine there is a
spare pair now. Unless he's applied for broadband too!

Madasafish havn't mentioned anything at all about the DACS.

Alex.

quick update - today, the 24th Feb, the DACS has been removed,
and I'm now connecting at 2.2Mbs - makes for a slight
improvement!
