Default 6340i problem, shuts off by its self.

I bought a new "in package" 6340i and have owned for over 4months.
Although the phone "overall" works great, it will shut down all by
it's self. The conditions for shut down don't seem to make a
difference, either carrying it, or sitting on the table over night.
The battery shows a full charge, the signal is good and the over
operations is sound. This is the only problem that I've found that
really effects anything. When your carrying a phone around and
discover that the thing has shut off for the past few hours.....that
really sucks. I've contacted Nokia and Cingular, but no reply as of
yet. Can anyone help? I am not the onyl one with this problem,
everyone I know that has this phones seems to have this problem also.
I'm in the Oklahoma Cingular area, could it be carrier related?

I dont know about you, but my 7110 that i have, switches itself off. I do
think that is because the battery is a bit loose. I looked up your phone on
the net, and saw that it has the same big black battery as the 7110, and i
wanted to ask you, how old is your phone, and is the battery loose in any
way?

This phone is only a few months old. I'll take it in and see about any
updates, but as far as I can tell, I have the latest software. The
phone is supposed to update automatically if connected to a Cingular
service ( which it always is) I do suspect the battery, one never
really knows.

I wish I could find a service center in the Baltimore/Washington area, but I
have so far, been unsuccessful. Anyone know of a service center in my area?.
TIA

Have a good one,

Mine is only a few months old, also, but I am already at least two
software versions behind. I have V 8.03.1, and the latest version is V
8.05.3. You can find out the software version by using *#0000#. By the way
the software (firmware) is not updated over the air, and has to be "flashed"
by a service center.
If I knew of a service center in the Baltimore/Washington area, I would
have already had mine updated, as I don't want to send it away, and have to
wait a few weeks to get it back.

Have a good one,

Mark A. Smith
