I would take it generally that given the approach and nature of their message you can by and large forget about communicating with them (and the probably wouldn't be wise, etc.). However, the idea of this message is to engage the thoughts of other users of this newsgroup rather than (or in addition to) the spammer. Best wishes, News Reader P.s. The later is probably a fair point, but generally an amount or level of intelligent consideration can be applied to the initial information and in this case appears potential valid, genuine, etc. P.p.s. As for cluttering - it shouldn't do that or impact anyone. One of the whole ideas and principles of newsgroups is threading - don't like the subject or thread? - leave it closed! No clutter, no intrusion, etc. Hope that helps. Best wishes and bye for now. ![]() |

The correct response was "yeah, but occasionally I slip up", at which point I'd have let it drop. However: had you not reposted, I would not have seen the spam at all. The same is probably true for others with good personal or server-based filters. To make it worse, you reposted the URL, thus giving the spammer more free advertising. >P.p.s. Welcome to your world! In uk.telelcom people routinely post what they feel like, where they feel, etc. Further, that is the principle and idea of a newsgroup. I am sorry it causes you some upset. Averting your eyes, I trust, is not such a pain, incursion, intrusion, or difficulty for you? (I hope not anyhow - or something may be or is severely upset, wrong, difficult, etc. for you). Anyhow - let's agree to differ. This is a public forum. Best wishes, News Reader P.s. I particularly like the bit about "the correct response is" / the world according to Mark! - I am not a dictator just do it and like it the way I want ! .P.p.s. Some of these posts are actually interesting and useful. I find it refreshing to see some reasonably mindful Chinese spam rather than the usual garbage - albeit it should not be their at all. However, sometimes posts are informative, on topic and useful yet some of the most stringent might call it "spam". Bye for now. [ Ignore: P.p.p.s. No relation to the McIntyre of TV fame? ] |

No, the principle and idea is that it discusses its TOPIC, not whatever some joker happens to want to witter on about. >Averting your eyes, I trust, is not such a pain, incursion, intrusion, or >difficulty for you? You're right, which is why tossers like you go straight in the bitbucket., >P.s. My personal opinion is neither here nor there. Not that you;ll take the slightest bit of notice. >P.p.s. Some of these posts are actually interesting and useful. you seriously expect people to belive that spam is interesting and useful. -- Mark McIntyre |
