I got this great phone a week back and have been playing with it.
I found its size to be a bit bulky, but a killer in terms of features.
I also had problems with its IR port. I never got a steady connection.
The odd position of its IR port also made it difficult to keep it
stable against the PCs IR port. In fact it took me a while to figure
out that the camera lens and IR port are same. The manual did not have
any mention of where the IR port is.

I found out that its memory card ( I got 16 MB with it - I guess its
standard ) is actually a multimedia card, that can be read using a
card reader.
And that the phone can actually work perfectly fine without the memory
card.

Questions : 1. To my surprise, I found that all my 1000+ contacts were
still available, when I removed the memory card and battery and
started the phone ( after putting back the battery ). So where are
the contacts stored ? Obviously some kind of internal memory ? If yes
why is that it did not get erased even when I removed the battery for
about 10 minutes. How much is the capacity for this non-volatile phone
memory ?
2. Is the symbian OS stored in ROM ( Like most of the PDAs - meaning
that the OS cannot be upgraded ) or is it in some non-volatile memory
( meaning the OS can be upgraded )
3. What kind of micro processor is being used inside Nokia 3650.
4. Can it play Mp3 files ?
5. Is there any software out there that will enable me to sync my palm
directly with Nokia 3650 through the infrared port.
6. Can I buy a general multimedia card from outside and use it inside
this phone.

wat do u mean when u say the camera lens and the ir port are the same?? the
ir port is the black part on the left side of ur phone. the cam is in the
middle of ur phone.

Q1. yes it uses an internal mem... which is 3.4 mb in size. the trouble with
3650 or symbian phones.. there is no easy way or should i say no way to
transfer the contacts to the sim card.

Q2. yes, the os is stored in the rom, i believe so.

Q3. a 104mhz arm processor

Q4. yes mp3 files can be played but the transferring mp3 using wireless
connections realli takes a long time. another thing is that the 3650 doesnt
support stereo sound, onli mono.

Q5. i dont think so...

Q6. yes u can... no problem... as long as it is a multi- media card. it
should work without problems.3

Man that probably explains a lot of my pain. I saw that black piece on
the left. But it looked just like a plastic triangle. Am I supposed to
open it to access the IR port

I could select numbers one by one and do a 'transfer to SIM direct'.
But yes its a real pain when you have 1000 numbers to play with.

That sounds very powerful. Couls yop pl direct me to the link where

mono is OK. I can transfer files using mu USB card reader. I just need
to figure out what the folder name should be. Will I be using the real
audio player ?

No, IR works fine with it !

No, you have to install aditional software.
MP3Go works fine for me ...
