I have found a good offer on a mobile phone that I am after, unfortunately
it's only available with a tmobile payg sim. My present phone is on a virgin payg service and I always thought that tmobile and virgin networks would work with either a tmobile or virgin sim. But the shop says that I will need a sim free phone if I want to use the virgin payg network. Is this correct? |

A Virgin SIM will usually work in a T-Mobile phone as it is usually locked to T-Mobile network (which Virgin currently use). A T-Mobile SIM will usually not work in a Virgin phone as it is usually locked to the service provider (Virgin). So you can be fairly certain that your Virgin SIM should work in a T- Mobile phone but not 100% certain. |

Depends on where you are getting the phone from as well. I normaly buy my PAYG phones from CPW and they have always come Unlocked and no network branding on them! |

Is this correct? What make and model of phone do you have? Many phones can be easily unlocked (to make them SIM Free). It will cost you somewhere between nothing at all and about 15 quid, depending on the phone, and where you get it done... -- Regards, Chris. (Remove Elvis's shoes to email me) |

Don't know about unlocking that phone. Pay a visit to your local independant mobile phone shop(or market stall) and ask if they can unlock it and how much... Seems like a good price, but never heard of that company before so can't advise you there. Maybe someone else can though... -- Regards, Chris. (Remove Elvis's shoes to email me) |

Usual shop assistant know nothing Generally T Mobile only SPlock their phones, whereas Virgin both SPlock and GID1 sim lock theirs So you can use any T Mobile virtual networks Sim like Virgin in a T Mobile phone, but not anything other than a Virgin Sim in a Virgin phone Getting the phone SP unlocked will also clear any GID1 lock too If you can get the deal from a CPW they use SPunlocked GSM stock where they can Steve Terry |
