I heard a report on local radio the other day that police in the West Midlands are asking for people to inform on those that have several mobile phones, on the rather flimsy IMHO grounds that terrorists and other criminals use multiple phones to avoid detection. So how is that going to affect those of us that legitimately have several..? Or who use multiple networks to get the best deals..? For example, I have five active numbers..! For anyone remotely interested, they are: one for normal personal use, one for work, one with the original Orange Out Here pack on for the occasional SMS (I don't send many), one emergency spare in the car glovebox and last but not least an old Cellnet SIM that I hang onto purely because it has a memorable number that I might want to sell one day. I think I'd better turn myself in now..! Ivor |

If you add up the subscriber numbers each of the five carriers report for the UK you end up with a total over 70 million in a country with only 60 million residents (some of whom are presumably too small to carry a mobile phone). I don't think you are alone, and I suspect the police in the West Midlands might end up being pretty busy. There are apparently a lot of terrorists and other criminals. Dennis Ferguson |

I carry a personal mobile and a work one as well , but there are several extra numbers registered to me from when I've bought PAYG handsets to replace faulty phones either for me or other people.
