I have a MOto V551 bought from Rogers in Canada that is now out of
contract. I'd like to give it to a friend who's moving to the UK. What would they need to do in order to use it there? Does the phone need to be "ulocked?" How do I tell, and if it does, how does that happen? If the phone is unlocked, then am I correct in thinking that they could then buy a simm card inthe UK and thereafter use the phone? I am a complete novice at cellphones and would appreciate advice. Thanks, Eric |

To check if it is SIM locked, put in a non Rogers SIM and see what happens. If it asks for a subsidy unlock code, call Rogers and ask them for the code. In some countries, operators are legally required to hand out the unlock codes after the contract expires. Not sure about Canada though. > If the phone is unlocked, then am I correct in thinking that they > could then buy a simm card inthe UK and thereafter use the phone? That is correct. Andreas |
